KENNETH J. BARKETT, M.D., is a native of Sikeston and a valedictorian of the Sikeston High School Class of 1972. He is an Electrical Engineer and School of Medicine graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia. Following an internship at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, Dr. Barkett completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Missouri – Columbia. He returned to his hometown of Sikeston in 1984; establishing practice at Ferguson Medical Group.
Dr. Barkett is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology; obtaining his board certification in 1986. He is a member of the Missouri Ophthalmologic Society.
Dr. Barkett specializes in cataract surgery, glaucoma, and diabetic eye diseases. He performs “No-Stitch, No-Patch, No-Shot” cataract surgery. Bi-focal lens implants, that decrease dependency on glasses after cataract surgery, are now available.
